Save the Day Cafe

Portland Central School’s Save the Day Cafe is open every day for recess and lunch for students and school staff. The cafe is operated by our VET Hospitality and junior cafe skills classes where the students learn invaluable real world skills in the fast-paced world of hospitality and customer service.

The cafe prepares students for a career in hospitality, food service and business through practical on the job learning in a supportive environment under the guidance of experienced staff and industry mentors. Our program supports students in achieving hospitality qualifications and gaining confidence in a real working environment, preparing them for employment building skills in teamwork, time management, communication, and problem-solving.

Secondary students

Secondary students can purchase food at break times using eftpos or cash. A lunch special is available each day as well as pies, sausage rolls, toasties and a selection of hot and cold drinks. The menu is published in our fortnightly newsletter and on the Sentral Parent Portal.

Primary lunch orders

Lunch ordering is available for all Primary students. Parents can place orders through studentpay+.

Create a free online account with studentpay+. Your studentpay+ account will also link to your parent portal and app.

Alternatively, students can place their own lunch orders using the provided lunch order forms and bags. These should be placed in the lunch order box, located near the Year 1-2 classrooms.

Lunch Specials

Lunch specials change daily at the Save the Day Cafe. The updated menu is available in our fortnightly newsletter and is posted to our Sentral for Parents portal and app.

Secondary students can purchase daily lunch specials as well as items from the everyday menu directly from the café. Lunch order forms are not required.

Payment can be made by cash or EFTPOS.
