Student opportunities and activities

At Portland Central School, we offer a variety of programs in the classroom and across the school to help students build new skills, make friends and explore new interests.

Our programs include:

school sport, including sporting schools programs across K–10
athletics, swimming and cross country carnivals
inter-school competitions, including the Central Schools knockouts for a variety of sports
opportunities to trial for western sporting teams
creative and performing arts high-potential groups, and showcases of works
Aboriginal cultural and language experiences
excursions including trips to the theatre, museums and field-study trips
incursions
lunchtime and interest-based clubs for chess, music, bible studies and team sports
student leadership program and opportunities
Duke of Edinburgh Award
access to external agencies for mental heath support onsite
Strength-based approach to student learning grounded in the Berry Street Education Model.
