Student opportunities and activities
At Portland Central School, we offer a variety of programs in the classroom and across the school to help students build new skills, make friends and explore new interests.
Our programs include:
- school sport, including sporting schools programs across K–10
- athletics, swimming and cross country carnivals
- inter-school competitions, including the Central Schools knockouts for a variety of sports
- opportunities to trial for western sporting teams
- creative and performing arts high-potential groups, and showcases of works
- Aboriginal cultural and language experiences
- excursions including trips to the theatre, museums and field-study trips
- incursions
- lunchtime and interest-based clubs for chess, music, bible studies and team sports
- student leadership program and opportunities
- Duke of Edinburgh Award
- access to external agencies for mental heath support onsite
- Strength-based approach to student learning grounded in the Berry Street Education Model.
