Transition to Kindergarten
Connect – Ready Set School
Is your child starting Kindergarten in 2026?
Our Connect Ready Set School program is the perfect way to help them feel excited, confident, and ready for “big school.”
In partnership with Connect, each week, children will enjoy fun and engaging activities that help them get to know our school, make new friends, and feel comfortable in their new learning environment.
Ready Set School runs during Term 3 for 8 weeks, every Wednesday morning from 9:30am till 11am.
Paddling Preps
Paddling Preps is an 8 week program run in Term 4 on Wednesday mornings from 9:00am - 11:00am. The program runs for children enrolling in Kindergarten in 2026 at Portland Central School.
This is a welcoming and supportive program that helps children become familiar with our school environment, build positive relationships with teachers and classmates, and increase their confidence and skills they need for a smooth start to their schooling journey.
Year 7 Orientation
NXT7
Our Year 7 transition program runs every Thursday in Week 8 during Terms 1–3, and in Term 4 on the Education Department's School's Orientation Day. It is designed to help students feel confident, connected, and well prepared for their next step into high school.
Throughout the program, students have the opportunity to meet teachers, make new friends, explore our school facilities, and take part in activities that build academic and personal skills. By the time they start Year 7, they are familiar with our routines and expectations, making their move to high school a smooth and positive experience.
