Renowned Australians inspire our young leaders

Primary Captains with Australian swimmer Cate Campbell. The swimmer has her hands on both students' shoulders, and the students are wearing her medals around their necks.

Our Primary School Captains Hannah and Penny attended the National Young Leaders Day at Darling Harbour. This program is designed to benefit any student who shows an interest in developing their leadership potential. Over 23,000 students attend this event around Australia annually with prominent leaders from all walks of life.

Here are Hannah’s and Penny’s thoughts from the day:

When we went to the International Convention Centre in Sydney we had the best time and when the first speaker came on it was really exciting and loud.

One of our favourite speakers was Tim and he spoke about making a difference in African schools. Tim did a lot of good things but the most awesome thing was going to Africa and helping the kids there because when he saw the schools in Africa he wanted to make a change. He said every time it rained the floor would turn to mud. Tim has made a big change in these schools so the kids don't have to work in the rain or mud.

Another great speaker was one of Australia’s best swimmers, her name is Cate Campbell. She has a sister named Bronty and she is Bronty’s biggest competitor. Kate told a story about when she was little and she stole her sister’s swimming medals and hid them under her bed!

We really enjoyed the Young Leaders Day and learnt a lot about what it takes to be a great leader.
